Who to use to buy your property in the Limousin

You have decided you want to buy a house in the Limousin, you now have to decide who you want to buy that property with?

You could choose to use an English based company, of which there are quite a few. They seem to offer all sorts of services and promises, including translation and legal advice, some making a charge for this and some not. (One company we know of charges a whopping £5,700 for their services!!). But does a salesman sitting the UK know what the local schools are like; where the good markets are; which doctors can speak English or who to buy firewood from? And have they ever visited the houses or know what the view from the back garden is like? – We think not.

Or you could buy your Limousin property privately from a French or English vendor, but to do this you really do need to have an expert understanding of the process of buying a house in France as well as excellent level of comprehension of the French language. A dangerous alternative we think you will agree.

Or you could use a local French agent, with bi-lingual staff, who live and work in the area; have expert knowledge of the local market; do not make extra charges for services such as translation and legal advice; whose children go to the local schools and whose staff live and work in the area and, above all, know the properties they have for sale.

Looking at the options, there really is no choice. After all, you would not go to an estate agent in Southampton to by a house in Aberdeen! So why use a company in the UK to buy a house in France?
